Iowa Licensed Assistant Controller

Job Summary

Partnering with the Controller, the full-time Iowa Licensed Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting, banking, and treasury operations, manage financial reporting and budgeting processes, and lead initiatives to improve accounting workflows in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the accounting and financial close process, ensuring compliance with GAAP and statutory regulations
• Coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements and regulatory reports, and manage tax reporting and compliance
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, enhancing accounting policies and procedures

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field
• Ten years of progressive leadership experience in accounting and/or finance
• Prior experience in the life insurance industry with knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting
• CPA designation or CPA eligibility preferred
• Advanced knowledge of financial planning, corporate taxes, and internal controls
