IT Category Manager

Job Summary

Owning the commercial strategy for defined IT spend categories, the full-time remote IT Category Manager will lead vendor negotiations, competitive sourcing events, and category planning across software, SaaS, cloud, and telecom services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage category strategy and renewal pipeline for assigned IT spend areas, ensuring timely execution and vendor alignment
• Lead competitive sourcing events and negotiate directly with vendors on pricing, terms, and service agreements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategies and maintain comprehensive market intelligence

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management, particularly in IT or technology services
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively and develop leverage-based strategies for vendor engagements
• Strong spend and data analysis skills, with experience in total cost of ownership modeling
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets; familiarity with BI or spend analytics tools is a plus
• Organized and systems-minded with experience using procurement management platforms
