IT Security Director

Job Summary

As the founding Security Engineer, the full-time remote IT Security Director will own IT, identity, and compliance programs, ensuring the security of educational data and systems for over 100,000 students while driving initiatives in corporate security, application security, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage identity and access programs, including SSO/SAML, MFA, and provisioning
• Oversee corporate IT security measures, incident response playbooks, and vendor risk assessments
• Lead compliance efforts for SOC 2 Type II readiness and ensure adherence to FERPA/COPPA regulations

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in security, preferably in regulated industries such as finance, education, or healthcare
• Proven experience in driving organizations through SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance
• Hands-on knowledge of IT and identity security operations
• Experience designing or managing a zero-trust environment
• Strong technical background with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse teams
