Junior Database Administrator

Job Summary

To support a growing technology platform, the full-time Junior Database Administrator will assist in maintaining and monitoring the health, performance, and security of database environments in a remote setting, while collaborating with senior team members on various tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing AWS RDS instances by monitoring database health and identifying performance issues
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 database availability and respond to production incidents
• Execute quarterly patching, monthly index reviews, and backup integrity testing within a live production environment

Required Qualifications

• 1-3 years in a DBA or Database Support role with hands-on exposure to a live production environment
• Practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or newer
• Hands-on experience or a solid understanding of AWS core services (RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch)
• Proficiency in T-SQL and exposure to Python and PowerShell for automation tasks
• Strong understanding of ACID properties, indexing, backup/restore strategies, and database security
