Junior HPC Applications Engineer

Job Summary

To support researchers and engineers on high-performance computing platforms, the full-time Junior HPC Applications Engineer will provide first-line support for build failures, batch script issues, and environment problems while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Own incoming support tickets, reproduce issues, resolve problems, and escalate as necessary with diagnosis
• Write, debug, and tune Slurm submission scripts for users, including GPU requests and resource sizing
• Build and install user-requested software under senior review, and maintain module and container environments

Required qualifications

• 2 or more years of experience supporting users on Linux systems or running scientific/machine learning workloads on a cluster
• Proficiency with the Linux command line and building software from source
• Experience writing and debugging batch scripts under Slurm, PBS, or LSF
• Proficiency in Python, along with familiarity with a machine learning framework or domain scientific code
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly in plain language
