Job Summary
Supporting the Information System Security Manager, the full-time remote Junior Information System Security Officer will assist in maintaining the security posture of Department of Labor information systems by implementing cybersecurity policies and ensuring compliance with federal requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day cybersecurity operations and support the implementation of the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) and Security Assessment Reports (SARs), ensuring compliance with NIST SP 800-53
- Participate in continuous monitoring activities, vulnerability management, and security incident reporting
Required qualifications
- 1-3 years of cybersecurity or information assurance experience
- Basic understanding of NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and Security Authorization (ATO)
- Experience working with Windows Server and Active Directory environments
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher security clearance
