Junior Software Engineer

Job Summary

To support the Department of Veteran Affairs, the remote Junior Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams and integrating modern development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy software solutions using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices
• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning and code reviews, while collaborating closely with product managers and other engineers
• Maintain and enhance existing products, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend improvements to development processes and tools

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years of professional software development experience, particularly with enterprise or mission-critical systems
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Development, along with experience in modern software frameworks and tools
• Understanding of secure coding practices and experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
