Kafka Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Kafka Platform Engineer, the full-time remote position will architect, deploy, and operate large-scale Apache Kafka and Confluent platform environments, ensuring reliable event-driven workloads while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and operate large-scale Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform clusters across on-prem and cloud environments
• Implement strong security measures on Kafka clusters and operate related components like Schema Registry and Kafka Connect
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and structured knowledge sharing, enhancing the team's technical maturity

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Five or more years of experience operating Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform in production
• Deep hands-on knowledge of Kafka internals, including partitions, replication, and consumer groups
• Strong experience with Kafka security protocols such as SASL, mTLS, and ACLs
• Hands-on experience with Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and either Kafka Streams or ksqlDB
