Kafka Platform Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing team, the full-time Kafka Platform Engineer will architect, deploy, and operate large-scale Apache Kafka and Confluent platform environments in a 100% remote setting, ensuring reliable and performant streaming solutions while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and operate large-scale Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform clusters across on-prem and cloud environments
• Implement strong security on Kafka clusters and operate Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, and Kafka Streams in production
• Lead incident response and post-incident reviews, ensuring durable outcomes and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Five or more years of experience operating Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform in production
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of Kafka internals and security mechanisms
• Strong experience with Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and either Kafka Streams or ksqlDB
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible
