Job Summary
To support the revenue management team, the full-time Kentucky Certified Inpatient Coding Specialist will assign ICD-10-CM codes to hospital inpatient accounts, abstract data from medical records, and utilize coding software, all while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Assign international classification of disease codes and abstract data from medical records for billing and compliance
- Utilize coding software to achieve daily productivity and maintain national coding accuracy standards
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information while upholding hospital quality and revenue cycle standards
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree with 2 years of hospital inpatient coding experience
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding and DRG assignment
- Experience with medical record abstraction and knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
