Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Kentucky Licensed Coder II will abstract and assign valid CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCs codes for surgical procedures, ensuring compliance and accurate billing while identifying trends and education opportunities within the urology specialty.
Key responsibilities
- Accurately abstract information from service documentation and assign appropriate coding to ensure compliance with guidelines
- Identify and communicate deficiencies impacting the billing process and complete encounters in a timely manner
- Review and resolve coding denials while providing training and mentoring to staff as needed
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent (required)
- Three (3) years of coding experience (required)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) accredited by AAPC (required)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist Based (CCS-P) accredited by AHIMA (required)
- Advanced knowledge of medical coding conventions and regulatory changes (required)
