Job Summary
Reviewing and coding diagnostic and procedural information, the full-time Kentucky Licensed Medical Coder will apply ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines to ensure accurate reimbursement while working remotely from designated states.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze physician documentation to assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/CPT codes accurately
- Query physicians for clarification on diagnoses or missing information to ensure optimal coding accuracy
- Maintain compliance with organizational documentation policies and coding standards to meet financial goals
Required qualifications
- One year of hospital coding experience in a healthcare setting
- Certification in one of the following: CCA, CCS, CIC-ICD, COC, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT
- Knowledge of Prospective Payment System and Medical Necessity guidelines
- Ability to code and abstract various medical records consistently and accurately
