Job Summary
To support sensitive law enforcement efforts, the part-time K'iche'/Quich Linguist will perform real-time and recorded transcription from K'iche'/Quich to English, ensuring accuracy and clarity in documentation while working remotely as needed on various projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Produce verbal and written synopses and transcriptions from live or recorded communications in K'iche'/Quich
- Communicate pertinent information to law enforcement personnel in a timely manner during live monitoring
- Transcribe and translate relevant calls and documents, maintaining a master list of slang terms and codes throughout the project
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of translation experience in K'iche'/Quich
- Knowledge of K'iche'/Quich colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions
- Ability to achieve a score of 3 or better on a third-party language assessment in English and Spanish
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
