Kubernetes Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Supporting the operation and maintenance of AWS EKS clusters, the full-time remote Kubernetes Platform Engineer will manage cluster lifecycle, node operations, and IaC-driven configuration for over 300 applications across production, staging, and sandbox environments.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain AWS EKS clusters, ensuring compliance with add-on lifecycle and cluster upgrades
• Detect and remediate node failures within 30 minutes, implementing cordon, drain, and replace procedures
• Manage Istio service mesh operations, including traffic management and mTLS policy enforcement

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, systems engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Kubernetes platform engineering and managing AWS EKS clusters
• Proven expertise in managing multi-cluster operations and Kubernetes add-on lifecycle
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) governance using Terraform
• Active Federal Civilian Public Trust clearance or eligibility for such clearance
