Laser Engineer
Job Summary
Owning the hands-on execution of core laser experiments, the full-time Laser Engineer will set up and align laser systems, troubleshoot bench-level issues, and drive the experimental schedule in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Execute assigned FELA laser experiments, including setup and alignment of laser front ends and running frequency tripling and amplifier characterization experiments
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and ensure timely completion of experiments according to the build-out plan
- Maintain organized lab records and improve experimental setups based on hands-on experience
Required qualifications
- Hands-on experience with fiber and free-space laser systems and nonlinear optics
- Familiarity with laser safety standards (ANSI Z136) and experience in Class 3B/4 environments
- Systematic approach to experimental work with strong documentation habits
- Proficient in laser beam characterization and optical alignment
- Preferred: Familiarity with laser modeling software and CAD tools
