Lead Accountant

Job Summary

To support a growing accounting team, the full-time salaried Lead Accountant will oversee complex accounting tasks, ensure the accuracy of financial records, prepare financial reports, and lead junior accounting staff while working primarily remotely from the Washington Metropolitan area.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly accounting cycle, ensuring all transactions are recorded and posted to the general ledger
• Participate in year-end review and audit preparation, including DCAA audit activities
• Provide administrative support in finance, pricing, resource utilization, and forecasting

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field
• 5 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years in government contracting
• Hands-on experience with finance functions such as budgeting and financial analysis
• Knowledge of government contract accounting rules and indirect rate structures
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
