Lead AI Systems Engineer

Job Summary

To build a shared internal AI platform from the ground up, the full-time Lead AI Systems Engineer will design and implement strategies for AI integration across various company functions while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of Benepass's internal AI platform, ensuring it is engineered for company-wide leverage
• Accelerate the Engineering SDLC by driving AI-assisted coding, review, and delivery workflows to remove bottlenecks
• Design agentic internal workflows and knowledge systems to automate multi-step work and improve operational efficiency

Required qualifications

• Staff-level experience with a proven impact on shipping systems that others depend on
• Strong programming fundamentals, preferably in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript
• Experience building internal platforms or developer tools integrated into CI/CD processes
• Hands-on experience with modern AI systems, including coding agents and orchestration
• Solid understanding of systems instincts such as APIs, permissions, and observability
