Lead Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading a small backend team, the full-time Lead Backend Software Engineer will manage the technical design and implementation of core backend APIs and services primarily in Python and FastAPI, while overseeing the architecture and operations of critical backend systems in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and hands-on implementation of backend APIs and services
• Manage and mentor 3 to 4 senior backend engineers, ensuring high-quality delivery and performance
• Translate product priorities into actionable technical plans and oversee critical-path development

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Python
• Demonstrated experience as a hands-on technical lead managing engineers
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, API design, and relational data modeling
• Experience with AWS backend services and CI/CD pipeline tools
• Ability to mentor senior engineers and effectively communicate across teams
