Lead Data Engineer

Job Summary

To support the evolution of data analytics and artificial intelligence, the full-time Lead Data Engineer will design and implement a modern AWS and Databricks Lakehouse platform, partnering with IT and business teams to drive data-driven decisions in a remote capacity, preferably from the Chicago area.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead enterprise-grade data pipelines for batch and streaming processing
• Own the full ETL/ELT lifecycle, ensuring data reliability and performance
• Mentor a small team while driving data engineering standards and best practices

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience with deep expertise in data engineering and ETL
• 4-6+ years of hands-on experience in designing and scaling data pipelines
• Strong experience with Databricks and AWS services
• Expertise in SQL, Python, and modern data architecture
• Experience working in an Agile analytics environment with key stakeholders
