Lead Data Engineer

Job Summary

As the hands-on technical lead in a remote full-time position, the Lead Data Engineer will manage complex client-facing data engineering projects, design and implement scalable data solutions, and set engineering standards while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client data engagements by owning architecture, guiding builds, and managing delivery risks
• Build and productionize data solutions, designing reliable data pipelines and lakehouse architectures on Databricks
• Drive technical delivery by managing scope and timelines, identifying blockers, and collaborating with stakeholders

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on data engineering experience with production-grade data platforms
• Expert-level knowledge of Apache Spark, including performance tuning and optimization
• Proficiency in Python, with Scala experience as a strong plus
• Experience with at least two major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), with depth in one
• Demonstrated experience leading data engineering projects in a client-facing or consulting context
