Lead Data Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the architecture and technical direction for data pipelines, the full-time remote Lead Data Platform Engineer will manage the integration of data systems, oversee ETL processes, and ensure the reliability and performance of production databases.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical roadmap for data pipelines and integrations, making key tradeoff decisions
• Set standards for infrastructure, schema contracts, observability, and incident response while mentoring engineers across levels
• Guide the replication of data from third-party systems and ensure the integrity and performance of production databases

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and operating production data systems with a focus on technical leadership
• Deep SQL expertise, including query optimization, indexing, and schema design
• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT tools such as Fivetran or Informatica
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure data services
• Experience in leading teams through production incidents and implementing durable fixes
