Job Summary

To drive strategic direction and modernization of the IBM zSystems platform, the full-time Lead Director of Mainframe Engineering will manage a high-performing team, ensuring operational reliability and security while aligning platform performance with business outcomes in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute long-term engineering strategy for IBM zSystems, focusing on modernization and automation
• Build and retain a high-performing organization of platform engineers and operations specialists
• Champion integration initiatives connecting mainframe systems with cloud platforms and oversee vendor relationships

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise platform engineering experience, particularly with IBM zSystems or similar environments
• 6+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams through transformation
• 5+ years of technical literacy in z/OS architecture and mainframe operational concepts
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale platform modernization and technology transformation programs
• Executive-level communication skills with experience managing technology budgets and vendor relationships
