Job Summary

Leading the modernization of disability income underwriting guidelines, the full-time remote Lead Disability Underwriter will evaluate, redesign, and maintain evidence-based medical underwriting practices to support digital transformation and enhance long-term risk performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of the Disability Income medical underwriting manual, ensuring alignment with business objectives
• Develop and maintain medical underwriting guidelines based on clinical research, claims experience, and industry best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure competitive and effective underwriting guidance that aligns with risk objectives

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience in Disability Insurance Underwriting
• Experience in research and writing underwriting guidelines
• Mastery knowledge of individual Disability Insurance practices and operations
• Ability to research and interpret medical literature for underwriting applications
• Established approval limit without requiring a second signature
