Lead Human Centered Designer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Lead Human Centered Designer to provide design leadership in human-centered design and innovation initiatives for the Veterans Health Administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead human-centered design projects from discovery through implementation, conducting qualitative research and field observations
• Manage a multi-disciplinary HCD team, ensuring alignment with VHA strategic goals and overseeing project deliverables
• Provide design leadership and strategic guidance to senior VHA officials and stakeholders on human-centered design initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 12+ years of experience, including 5+ years leading HCD projects in a federal healthcare environment
• Experience conducting empathy-based contextual inquiry and qualitative research across multiple VA Medical Center sites
• Proven ability to deliver HCD artifacts such as Insight Reports and Journey Maps to senior stakeholders
• Familiarity with VA directives and federal government contracting environments
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust (Tier 2) suitability clearance
