Job Summary
To support Care in the Community services at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System, the full-time Lead Medical Support Assistant will coordinate staffing assignments, manage scheduling for a team of Medical Support Assistants, and serve as the primary liaison with the VA Contracting Officer's Representative while ensuring compliance with VA policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate staffing assignments and oversee the quality of work performed by contract Medical Support Assistants
- Manage workflow within various VA systems and ensure compliance with established policies and performance metrics
- Communicate with internal medical providers and coordinate Veteran care with community providers for timely services
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum of two years of experience in a Medical Support Assistant or healthcare scheduling role, with one year in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred
- Advanced knowledge of VA scheduling systems and community care workflows, including VistA and CPRS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Privacy Act requirements, and VA information security protocols
