Lead Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Leading platform improvements in a fully remote environment, the full-time salaried Lead Platform Engineer will manage the design and implementation of build systems, developer tooling, and cloud infrastructure to enhance software development workflows for scientific applications.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the modernization of build systems and implement a monorepo strategy for scientific C++ libraries
• Own the evolution of AI-assisted developer tooling and ensure integration of AI model platforms into the development environment
• Serve as the primary technical decision-maker for developer platform infrastructure, coordinating cross-team initiatives and managing dependencies

Required qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in software or platform/infrastructure engineering focused on developer productivity or build systems
• Hands-on experience with build systems, incremental builds, and dependency management, particularly in C++ environments
• Proficiency in managing GitHub organization administration and CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions
• Production experience with Terraform for infrastructure management and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of delivering multi-team infrastructure initiatives
