Lead Safety Assurance Specialist

Job Summary

Serving as the primary authority on autonomous vehicle safety compliance, the full-time remote Lead Safety Assurance Specialist will manage regulatory engagement, oversee compliance documentation, and provide expert guidance on safety standards to ensure alignment with federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve SGO incident narratives, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
• Monitor and analyze federal and state AV regulatory requirements, identifying gaps in internal safety policies
• Create and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation and prepare regulatory submissions for safety-related engagements

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in AV safety regulation, incident management, or safety compliance within NHTSA, a federal agency, or an AV/automotive company
• Deep familiarity with NHTSA's Standing General Order (SGO) reporting requirements and crash investigation processes
• Hands-on experience with FMVSS, NHTSA exemption frameworks, and SAE ADS taxonomy
• Proven ability to prepare and manage regulatory submissions and compliance documentation
• Experience collaborating with legal counsel on regulatory matters and strategy
