Lead Scientific Data Engineer

Job Summary

Providing senior technical leadership for core scientific data systems, the full-time Lead Scientific Data Engineer will develop implementation roadmaps and architectures while managing production automated systems and workflows to support genomic data movement and AI capabilities in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop technical implementation roadmaps and long-term strategies for scientific data and compute platforms
• Design and implement automated systems, APIs, and workflows for genomic data management and large-scale scientific computing
• Enhance the reliability and scalability of shared production data systems while ensuring sustainable operations

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
• Experience in designing, developing, and operating production software and data systems for metadata management and workflow orchestration
• Advanced knowledge of data and software engineering fundamentals for data-intensive distributed systems
• Broad experience with databases and data storage technologies, including relational databases and object storage
• Proficiency in Python and experience with additional programming languages
