Job Summary
Leading a development team, the full-time remote Lead Software Engineer will design, develop, maintain, and enhance software for the CMS Health Insurance Oversight System (HIOS), ensuring high-quality deliverables while mentoring engineers and supporting agile project execution.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supporting project planning and execution
- Design and develop backend services and frontend applications for HIOS modules
- Participate in agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of professional software development experience with Java, Spring Framework, and REST APIs
- Experience with frontend technologies such as React, Angular, and TypeScript
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL databases and SQL development
- Knowledge of AWS services and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and Jenkins
