Lead VistA MUMPS Developer
Job Summary
Providing technical leadership for a federal government healthcare modernization project, the full-time Lead VistA MUMPS Developer will work remotely to analyze existing applications, design enhancements, and ensure secure data handling while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for VistA/MUMPS development, guiding the project team in technical direction and standards
- Lead analysis of VistA applications to identify and eliminate Social Security Number usage while maintaining application functionality
- Design and enhance VistA/MUMPS applications, ensuring compliance with VA development standards and secure coding practices
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience, with 15+ years in VistA/MUMPS development
- Extensive hands-on expertise with VistA, MUMPS/M, and complex VistA applications
- Strong experience in analyzing VistA codebases and developing modification strategies
- Demonstrated experience in application troubleshooting, secure software development, and Agile practices
- Experience leading developers or serving as a technical lead in healthcare IT environments
