Learning Scientist Early Literacy

Job Summary

To support early literacy development, the remote Learning Scientist, Early Literacy will apply educational research to develop models of early student learning, conduct validation studies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance educational products for PreK-5 students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine models of early literacy learning, supporting product design and validation
• Design and execute research studies to validate educational products and elucidate cognitive models of early learning
• Collaborate with learning scientists, engineers, and product managers to iteratively improve educational tools for early-grade teachers

Required qualifications

• A PhD or EdD in literacy/reading education, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, or a related field
• Experience as an early-grades classroom teacher is a plus
• Strong background in qualitative or quantitative research methods applied to learning sciences studies
• Familiarity with content learning standards and learning trajectories in early literacy
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and productivity software, and a willingness to learn new tools
