Legal Recovery Manager

Job Summary

Owning the legal and compliance framework, the full-time Legal and Deficiency Recovery Manager will design and implement a post charge-off recovery program, manage vendor relationships, and ensure regulatory compliance while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design and oversee qualification criteria for legal escalation of accounts with deficiency balances, ensuring compliance and accuracy in the process
• Manage vendor and outside counsel relationships, conducting audits and ensuring compliance with legal standards and internal policies
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the post charge-off collections program, providing guidance and training to staff as needed

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in legal operations, compliance management, or collections oversight within consumer lending or auto finance
• Working knowledge of FDCPA, UDAAP, and state consumer protection laws as they relate to post charge-off collections
• Experience managing bankruptcy filings and SCRA compliance for servicemember accounts
• Proven history of managing outside counsel relationships and understanding legal collections processes
• Bachelor's degree required; JD, paralegal certification, or CRCM preferred but not required
