Licensed Commercial and IP Counsel

Job Summary

To support ongoing operations of an AI-powered marketing platform, a Licensed Commercial and IP Counsel will work remotely on a full-time basis, providing legal guidance on advertising technologies, managing intellectual property, and overseeing complex litigation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and interpret commercial contracts with clients and ad tech partners, including data sharing and measurement agreements
• Manage all phases of complex IP litigation and advise on overall IP strategy, including patentability and infringement analyses
• Provide legal guidance during the design and launch of programmatic features, ensuring compliance with AI and data governance regulations

Required qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Canada or the U.S
• 6+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in an in-house commercial role and 3 years of complex litigation experience
• Strong understanding of technology and the ad tech ecosystem, including DSPs, SSPs, and programmatic advertising
• Excellent negotiation and analytical skills to manage disputes and advise senior leadership
• Demonstrated ability to adopt automation and AI tools to enhance legal workflows
