Licensed Commercial Code Consultant

Job Summary

To support a growing practice, the contract Commercial Building Code Consultant will review commercial plan sets for IBC code compliance, focusing on egress, fire-resistance, accessibility, structural, and MEP disciplines while working remotely and flexibly.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed reviews of plans for code compliance, identifying missing information and inconsistencies
• Evaluate review comments and markups for accuracy, providing clarifying compliance rationale
• Prepare short-form written clarifications of review findings and compliance rationale

Key Qualifications

• A licensed or credentialed specialist: RA, PE/SE, FPE, CASp, or ICC specialty certification
• 15+ years of experience in commercial construction with strong skills in plans coordination, review, and QA/QC, or 10+ years with ICC certification
• Experience in commercial plan review at an AHJ or third-party review firm
• Comfort with reviewing plans on screen using a web app interface
• CASp certification or experience with CA/FL codes is a plus
