Job Summary
To support permit operations, the contract Licensed Commercial Plans Examiner (MEP) will review commercial plan sets for IBC code compliance, focusing on egress, fire-resistance, accessibility, structural, and MEP disciplines while working remotely and flexibly.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed reviews of plans for code compliance, identifying missing information and inconsistencies
- Evaluate review comments and markups for accuracy and provide clarifying compliance rationale
- Draft short-form written clarifications of review findings and compliance rationale
Required Qualifications
- A licensed or credentialed specialist: RA, PE/SE, FPE, CASp, or ICC specialty certification (Accessibility, Fire, Structural, or Energy Plans Examiner; MCP)
- 15+ years of experience in commercial construction with strong plans coordination, review, and QA/QC skills, OR ICC Certified Building, Combination, or Fire Plans Examiner or Master Code Professional (or equivalent)
- 10+ years of commercial experience, including 5+ years of commercial plan review at an AHJ or third-party review firm
- CASp certification or CA/FL code experience (CBC, Title 24, FBC) is a plus
- Prior third-party or peer review work for jurisdictions is a plus
