Job Summary

To support hydrologic and flood risk modeling projects, the full-time Licensed Environmental Engineer will collaborate with the WARES team to enhance water resources modeling tools, analyze hydrologic data, and develop simulation models, with the option to work remotely or from the Research Triangle Park, NC office.

Key responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the WARES team to implement and enhance water resources modeling tools
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize technical and hydrologic data
  • Develop and calibrate hydrologic, hydraulic, and river basin simulation models
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience, or a PhD with no experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in hydrologic watershed modeling and reservoir routing
  • Demonstrated ability to calibrate hydrologic models and evaluate model performance
  • Proficiency with open-source programming languages (Python, R, C#, VB.NET) for data management and analysis
  • Basic geospatial processing skills using ArcGIS or QGIS
