Licensed Head of Legal

Job Summary

To support the organization's legal framework, the remote Licensed Head of Legal will oversee all legal matters, provide strategic counsel to leadership, and manage risks while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and strategic counsel to the board of directors and management on various legal matters, including ethics, privacy, and compliance
• Oversee the selection and management of outside counsel while drafting and negotiating contracts on behalf of the organization
• Set internal governance policies and drive legal compliance to limit risk exposure within the organization

Required qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership
• 8+ years of progressive legal experience in a corporate legal department or law firm
• Extensive knowledge of corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance
• Experience in managing a legal team and collaborating with external legal counsel
• Demonstrated experience in mergers and acquisitions, litigation management, and risk assessment
