Job Summary
To support the Revenue Integrity Department, the full-time Licensed Hospital Inpatient Coder will accurately assign ICD-10 and DRG codes to hospital inpatient services while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and collaborating with providers to resolve discrepancies in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10 and DRG codes to hospital inpatient services in accordance with current coding guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Interpret office, operative, and procedure notes to assign codes and modifiers for compliance and optimal reimbursement
- Maintain a minimum coding accuracy rate of 95% through quality assurance and participation in audits
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of medical coding experience
- Current AHIMA or AAPC Coding Certification(s)
- Experience with healthcare coding and documentation audits and appeals
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently and reliably
