Life Insurance Underwriter

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Underwriter who will be responsible for underwriting individual life insurance contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Appraises, classifies, and takes action on insurance applications, including determining extra premiums for medical impairments and special hazards
• Communicates with field force and Home Office personnel regarding insurance applications and answers inquiries related to underwriting policies

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy
• Knowledge of federal and state insurance regulations
• BS or BA degree; completion of LOMA and ALU courses
• 2-5 years of individual life underwriting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
