Life Underwriting Consultant

Job Summary

Evaluating life insurance applications, the full-time remote Life Underwriting Consultant will assess risks, make timely decisions, and maintain strong relationships with brokers and internal partners while ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate applications by analyzing medical, financial, and lifestyle risk factors to determine acceptability and classification
• Manage workload to meet productivity and quality expectations while approving applications within established authority limits
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers and advisors, communicating underwriting decisions clearly and professionally

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years of life underwriting experience
• Demonstrated expertise in substandard underwriting and financial risk assessment
• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex cases independently
• Understanding of reinsurance principles and when to engage partners
