Linux Systems Administrator

Job Summary

Supporting the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the full-time remote Linux Systems Administrator / Systems Engineer will install, configure, and maintain various enterprise Linux operating systems while ensuring system security and availability.

Key responsibilities

• Install and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux and other Linux distributions, ensuring compliance with security requirements
• Perform lifecycle management of Linux servers and support enterprise cybersecurity platforms
• Automate system administration tasks and manage user accounts, authentication services, and system performance

Required qualifications

• Public Trust Clearance or ability to obtain one
• B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration and systems engineering
• Experience with enterprise Linux environments and cybersecurity infrastructure
• Preferred certifications: RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC-2, LPIC-3, or Linux+
