Job Summary
Providing high-level technical guidance, the part-time Livestock Value Chain Specialist will develop competitive, conservation-linked livestock value chains for endangered indigenous breeds in Northwest Iran, focusing on sustainability and market viability while working remotely over a contract period of 30 working days within an 11-month timeframe.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a review and analysis of livestock value chains for indigenous breeds and benchmark against international models
- Develop a value chain upgrading framework linking genetic conservation with market incentives
- Provide recommendations for improving competitiveness, export readiness, and compliance with international standards
Required qualifications
- Advanced university degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Livestock Systems, Rural Development, or related field
- At least 5 years of relevant international experience in livestock value chain development
- Working knowledge of English
- Experience in designing value chain upgrading approaches for indigenous or niche livestock products
- Familiarity with international quality standards and export compliance
