Machine Learning Engineer

Job Summary

To support the mission of safeguarding the platform, the full-time remote Machine Learning Engineer will design, build, and deploy agentic solutions to detect and prevent fraud and abuse, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance safety and integrity across GitHub.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement agentic solutions leveraging large language models for fraud detection and security threat prevention
• Build and operate scalable ML systems on cloud platforms for training and deploying models in production
• Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to integrate solutions into existing systems and evaluate their performance

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in machine learning or a related field, or a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree with corresponding experience
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with large language models
• Experience building production-grade systems that handle high-volume event streams
• Familiarity with trust and safety issues in online platforms
• Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and their practical implementation
