Machine Learning Engineer

Job Summary

Building and evolving the machine learning systems for underwriting and decisioning, the full-time remote Machine Learning Engineer will manage the full modeling lifecycle, including problem formulation, feature development, and model deployment while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Build, evaluate, and maintain underwriting and decisioning models
• Design and run experiments to assess model performance and inform underwriting policy decisions
• Contribute analysis that informs portfolio-level decisions and explains model behavior to senior leaders

Required qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field; PhD is strongly preferred
• 5+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, or statistical modeling in decisioning contexts
• Experience with probabilistic models and decision systems, including calibration and score transformations
• Strong experimentation skills, including designing holdouts and evaluating models
• Deep knowledge of underwriting, including bank and cashflow analysis and unsecured credit risk
