Job Summary

To support complex technical solutions, the fully remote Mainframe COBOL Developer will develop and maintain code, modify existing applications, and ensure adherence to security and performance standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain code for complex solutions across multiple platforms, addressing security vulnerabilities and performance considerations
  • Execute unit testing and debugging activities to ensure application stability and performance, collaborating with team members to resolve defects
  • Assist with project delivery by estimating effort and timelines, supporting application deployment, and evaluating third-party tools and solutions
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience
  • Advanced COBOL development experience within enterprise mainframe environments, including strong hands-on experience with COBOL II, JCL, and DB2
  • Prior experience in software engineering or application development roles, preferably in the healthcare payer or insurance industry
  • Solid understanding of unit testing methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with source control/version management tools and debugging/troubleshooting tools to diagnose application issues
