Mainframe Security Architect

Job Summary

To support strategic security initiatives, the remote contracted Mainframe Security Architect will lead the design and delivery of enterprise RACF and USS security solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams and guiding engineering efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the assessment, scoping, and architectural design of RACF and USS security project solutions, including authentication and encryption
• Define target-state architectures and technical designs, producing documentation and guiding teams through implementation
• Create and maintain security monitoring, automation, and reporting solutions using tools such as IBM zSecure and multifactor authentication platforms

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of experience as a mainframe security architect or senior engineer with expertise in IBM RACF and zSecure
• Deep knowledge of z/OS UNIX System Services (USS) security and least-privilege access models
• Proficiency in JCL, REXX, and CARLa for automation and security tooling development
• Experience with mainframe authentication and encryption capabilities, including multifactor authentication
• Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management best practices and z/OS infrastructure disciplines
