Mainframe Systems Administrator
Job Summary
Working remotely on a contract basis, the Mainframe Systems Administrator will administer and support IBM z/OS mainframe environments, perform system health checks, and manage storage systems while ensuring optimal performance and availability of mission-critical systems.
Key responsibilities
- Administer and maintain IBM z/OS environments, including job scheduling and performance tuning
- Monitor IBM Db2 for z/OS and manage Hitachi mainframe-compatible storage systems
- Implement and track changes through ITIL-aligned change management processes and support disaster recovery planning
Required qualifications
- Demonstrated experience administering z/OS environments with monitoring and storage solutions
- Proficient in performance tuning using tools like Omegamon and IBM Workload Manager (WLM)
- Ability to respond to high-severity issues within 1 hour and routine items within the same business day
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to maintain high availability of mainframe systems
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and Jira ticketing system
