Major Gift Officer

Job Summary

Focused on building strong donor relationships, the full-time remote Major Gift Officer will manage a portfolio of approximately 140 donors, advancing mid-level supporters into major gift giving while developing and executing strategic engagement plans to enhance donor retention and philanthropic revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of donors through qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, aiming for a revenue target of approximately $1.4M-$2M
• Identify and cultivate mid-level donors to develop a sustainable pipeline for future major gifts
• Collaborate with program and development staff to align donor interests with organizational priorities and funding opportunities

Required qualifications

• Commitment to the organization's mission and environmental advocacy
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience, with at least 3 years focused on major gifts
• Demonstrated experience managing donor portfolios and securing major gifts
• Ability to travel domestically up to 30% of the time
