Manager of Royalty Accounting

Job Summary

Leading the financial control and reporting of royalty-related balance sheet items, the full-time remote Manager of Royalty Accounting will oversee the North American Accounting and Subrights teams, manage complex financial data, and drive continuous improvement in royalty software systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the North American Accounting and Subrights teams, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies
• Direct the reconciliation and maintenance of general ledger accounts, including intercompany balances and monthly journal entries
• Control and validate financial postings for royalty, licensing, and intercompany transactions to ensure data integrity

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years in corporate accounting, finance, or royalty operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or professional certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of royalty or cost accounting and revenue recognition, with book publishing experience preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with JDE Financials or Klopotek royalty system is highly desired
• Exceptional communication skills and a self-starter mentality in a fast-paced environment
