Manager, Semantic Layer Engineering

Job Summary

To support a growing analytics team, the full-time Manager, Semantic Layer Engineering will build and maintain a governed semantic layer for business metrics, ensuring consistency across reporting, operations, and AI, while working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain the enterprise semantic layer as the primary source for governed metrics used by various systems and dashboards
• Execute the metric certification lifecycle, ensuring metrics meet quality and governance standards while documenting workflows and approval processes
• Directly manage one team member, providing coaching and support while coordinating with cross-functional teams to enhance the semantic layer's reliability

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science, analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI platform roles, with a focus on building governed metrics and reporting infrastructure
• Solid SQL skills and experience with Redshift or similar databases, including the ability to write and optimize complex analytical queries
• Hands-on experience with semantic layer or metrics-store tooling, including version control and automated testing practices
• Demonstrated experience executing data quality frameworks in production environments, including monitoring and incident response for trusted data products
